Diversity in Bikes

Let’s face it, our PRO SHOP has been pigeonholed into being a bike shop that focuses on mountain bikes. It is probably because we have maintained the most extensive MTB demo fleet south of Stowe, Vermont for the last 10 years. Yes, we carry a lot of inventory in aftermarket and replacement parts for mountain bikes and yes, almost all of our employees ride bikes on dirt some of the time. With some strong competition from other shops in our area that focus on road-only cyclists, we have definitely found our niche in gravel and mountain bikes.

While we have spent a lot of time curating that niche, our clientele as well as our sales and repair history tells a more diverse story. Take our fit studio for example. We have dedicated more floor space to doing bike fits and building custom road bikes than any other space on our retail floor. Our custom lab fit studio is now housed at 9.5 Railroad Avenue (previously located next store from County Road) and is focused solely on cyclists looking for a comfortable pavement cycling experience.

When it comes to repairs, we see equal diversity. Many of our customers recognize that the precision required to professionally maintain all bikes is consistent and perhaps less complex with road and gravel bikes. We are often servicing bikes purchased from other shops where our customers have been burnt by the lack of quality of repair work post-sales. And then of course are the difficult-to-diagnose problems that other shops struggle with which we have become accustomed to handling through our experience and talent. Our customers sometimes drive past multiple bike shops to have us work on their road bikes. If you are descending down a road at 30-40 mph, don’t you want your bike to be serviced perfectly by the best?

And finally, lifestyle. Our employees and managers ride our bikes everywhere. We commute and recreate on all surfaces and we love all cycling experiences and adventures. I myself have ridden more miles on my gravel bike and road bike (both outdoors and indoors) than I will ever ride on dirt. While we may promote our mountain bike product and experiences more via social media and our website, we live and breathe all bikes and can relate to all of our customer’s cycling passions. We understand that passion and have the experience to nurture it and keep all wheels spinning fast and safe. We do not discriminate against any cyclists, whether you like to shred or are called a Fred, we got your back.
